In the past 6 months we have effectively doubled our numbers of dogs in our care., We have been inundated with requests for help with dogs at risk of being put to sleep due to owners’ circumstances, most of these are directly due to the pandemic.
We are expecting another rise in abandoned dogs as people struggle with finances due to redundancies, sickness and very sadly deaths. We have given respite care throughout lockdown – providing a safe haven for dogs whose owners are hospitalised, fleeing domestic violence or have sadly died.
A safe haven means that where possible, the dog(s) can be reunited with their owners when they are able. We have supported our community throughout this dreadful situation but we now need your support to help us through.
We continue to help the strays that we rescue from local pounds, many have been abandoned because of ongoing behavioural and medical issues. Some dogs are likely to be long term stays as we work with their special needs. With no potential fundraising events on the horizon (perhaps not until Spring next year), we are going to struggle severely through the winter months.
We are now appealing for your help. We do not want to cut our intake at a time when so many dogs are going to need a lifeline. However, the financial impact on us has been major and we cannot do this alone. Please help us to secure spaces for the dogs we currently care for and those that are going to so desperately need us in the coming 6 months.
If you can donate, any amount (nothing is too small) please, please, help us for the dogs.
