Nelson

Meet Nelson the Jack Russell Terrier “JRT” available for adoption at in the Midlands or further afield. Nelson is a young pup learning about the world at only 10mths old. Nelson is looking for his forever home and can have another doggie companion at home to share life with.

Nelson’s story began in heartbreaking circumstances, at just three months old, he was found abandoned in a delivery box. He was found, luckily healthy and bright and since then, he has been loved, cared for, and given the chance to discover how wonderful life can be. Sadly, due to a change in circumstances, his family has made the difficult decision to find him the loving home he deserves.

Nelson is full of fun, character, and loves affection. He absolutely loves his walks, playing with his favourite ball, and exploring the world. He has great recall and enjoys being off lead in the park. He travels brilliantly, whether that’s by car or on public transport – he has even been on the London Underground!

At home, he currently lives happily with another dog and enjoys other dogs’ company, so he could happily share his home with another friendly dog. As he is still entire and currently too young to be neutered, he cannot live with unneutered female dogs. He would enjoy having a garden to run around in, but this is not necessary and could live in a home without access to a private garden.

Like many dogs who have had an uncertain start in life, Nelson can be a little wary when meeting new people. On walks he can walk past people and even when off lead in the park will ignore but he may bark if someone approaches him. With a little patience, a handful of treats, and a game with his favourite ball, he soon realises new people aren’t so scary after all. Once he trusts you, his affectionate personality shines through. We feel Nelson would be happiest in a home with older teenagers who can understand and respect his need that introductions may need to be at a slower pace.

Nelson can currently be left for around four hours when settled at home, although this would need to be built up gradually in a new environment. He is looking for a patient, active family who will continue building his confidence and enjoy all the laughter, adventures, and love that come with this special little dog.
