*Please can you help us?*
As followers on this group, you are all aware of the many medical conditions that so many dogs are coming into us with! Last year, we launched an appeal to help find funding for these expensive operations and had less than a third of our target. This year, we are launching our new campaign for Medical Treatment in 2020 with our deadline being 31st October. We have eight months to try to reach target of £15,000. Our usual vet fees average at £25,000 so if we are going to continue providing medical care for strays that have been left behind at council holding kennels, in addition to the usual costs for neutering, vaccinating etc, we really do need to make sure we have the funds in place.
These are dogs such as Sophia, Mrs Muggles, Smithy, Xena – all very recent dogs who have undergone major ops (in Sophia’s case – 3 major ops as her next one is in a few weeks) or expensive medical treatment for a variety of ailments. And there have been so many more before – broken legs, prolapses, full ear canal removals, major dental work, extreme cases of skin conditions, physical trauma from cruelty, RTA’s and every medical condition in-between ; if the vets prognosis is good, then we will always provide the treatment and after care required. We have met these costs by arranging many fundraising events and rely on the generosity of the general public to donate. We cannot continue to absorb these costs without help.
These dogs will have nobody else to help – the councils won’t pay out for operations, the holding kennels cannot pay, the owners have abandoned the dogs and there is no government funding to help.
