About Me
Meet Dougie the handsome, full of character Frenchie available for adoption at Pawprints Dog Rescue in the Midlands. Dougie is a fun loving 4 year old French Bulldog with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. He’s full of character and is guaranteed to keep you smiling with his charming antics and love for life.
Dougie does have arthritis in his back legs and takes daily medication to keep him comfortable. He will need to remain on this medication long term, and we’re happy to discuss his medical needs in more detail with any interested adopters.
One of Dougie’s favourite things is getting out and about. He loves his walks and thrives when he’s exploring the world around him, although being a French bulldog with his short snout and his arthritis he does need shorter walks, or trips out to the garden centre where he can have a sit down! He loves to walk and play with other dogs and thrives in their company out and about, although he would prefer to be the only dog in his home where he can soak up all the attention. Dougie is a real people lover and has never had any issues meeting new people on his walks. In fact, he’ll often make a beeline for anyone willing to give him a fuss!
Dougie can display guarding behaviours around items he has found or stolen, but he has been making great progress with his training. To help him continue to succeed, Dougie is looking for an adult only home with patient owners who are committed to following his training plan. Some management around the home will be needed, and our behaviourist will provide full support with this to ensure his new family feels confident and prepared. A home with a secure private garden would be a dream for Dougie, giving him a safe space to potter about.
Dougie has so much love to give, and in the right home he will make an incredibly rewarding companion. He would be well suited to someone with experience of resource guarding, or to a family who are keen to learn, put in the training, and help him continue building on the fantastic progress he’s already made.
Dougie is of course looking for his forever home, but he is struggling in kennels so we would also be looking for an experienced foster family if you aren’t quite ready to adopt a dog.
