You may be familiar with Charlie’s story from social media – he was found straying in an incredibly sorry state. It has taken a mammoth effort from our kennel staff and his veterinary team to get him where he is today, and he is looking and feel a lot better. Despite everything he has been through, Charlie is a truly wonderful dog. He’s super smart and walks beautifully on the lead, and would really enjoy doing something like obedience training or scentwork. Due to his long period of confinement as a result of his illness and a lack of early socialisation, Charlie can quickly become frustrated resulting in some hard mouthing and nipping – but this can easily be worked on through calm, positive training.
Charlie is looking for a quiet home with no children (including visiting children) or cats where he can recover from his ordeal. We think Charlie would be better as the only dog in the home as he will need a lot of one-to-one time to begin with. However, he is dog-friendly and would enjoy having some equally energetic playmates outside the home! His adopters will need to be patient and committed to continuing his training using force-free, humane methods, and will need to be open to working with a trainer if necessary. All that said, Charlie is a dog with an enormous amount of potential who is just waiting for someone to show him how to become the best dog he can be.
